Apo Island Negros – Unforgettable Day Trip From Dumaguete

Apo Island Negros - Boat TripApo Island, Negros makes for an unforgettable day trip from dumaguete. Our group of friends hired a local native boat with a shade cover to hide from the sun.

Apo Island NegrosA little bit of local know how, enabled us to make it a brilliant day.

Let me Explain.

What can I Expect on an Apo Island Negros Adventure

Apo Island Negros

After making our way down to the beach and loading the boat with supplies(Food and Drinks), we headed of South along the coast. The waters were calm which made for an enjoyable cruise taking in the sights.

You can see Apo Island looming up in the distance.

See my short video on the day.

Landing on Apo Island Beach – Get Greeted By the Friendly Locals

apo island beachLanding on Apo Island Beach was awesome, you get greeted by many of the locals, having only a population of around 2000, many of them rely on tourism money to survive, so be nice and buy a souvenir.

You then go an register to dive or snorkel on the beach.
apo island walking trailsWhilst on the island, take a couple of hours and wonder through the town, meet the locals and do the walking trails. There are some spectacular views and photo opportunities available.

apo island lookoutThe trail that heads to the southern end of the island is quite moderate, there will be some “up hill” sections but not to bad. Any effort expelled will be rewarded both along the way and once you reach the lookout area on the Southern end of the Island.

Apo island tower lookoutOnce you find your way back to your landing location there is another walking trail heading to an old water tower lookout on the Northern end of the island. This trail is a bit steeper and will get your heart pumping. Once you reach the top there is an old water tower lookout, the climb up is a bit scary for those afraid of heights, but worth it.
I’m sure you will regret not doing it however, the views of Siquijor Island, Cebu Island and back to Dumaguete are brilliant.

Find your way back to the beach and onto the boat.

Apo Island giant turtleIn the afternoon, go for a snorkel, every time I have been there(3 so far) I have ended up swimming along with a giant sea turtle. One of those life experiences you will tell stories about for years to come.

Apo Island Tropical FishFeed the tropical fish with bread, they will come and eat out of your hand.

Basically if you have a group of friends and want an unforgettable fun and exciting day out, Apo Island, Negros is a perfect destination.

Worth the effort.
